- SAVE CBGB

RED ALERT:
The
Countdown
SAY IT AINT SO...
WHY ISN'T
CBGB's
A NYC LANDMARK, GRANTED WITH LANDMARK STATUS?

SEE A CRIME AS IT HAPPENS ON THE STREETS OF NEW YORK, AT THE
BOWERY AND
"JOEY RAMONE PLACE"
TO PUT IT RIGHT...OR STOP IT!

THIS IS A TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN. INTERVENE!

JUMP IN!
STOP THE SLAUGHTER!

CBGB is a symbol of raw
American energy – for 31 years CBGB has provided a space for
new creativity in music and art, a spotlight for young
talent, and a unique safe-space to pursue art and free
expression.
CB's has always kept its prices
affordable for all music lovers, evolved to fill the needs
of the music and cultural communities of New York City, and
jump started the careers of thousands of performers.
Now CBGB needs your help to keep its doors open.

If
your at this RAMONES site you are a influenced
by CBGB's. Period.
A NY TRAGEDY: "Here today, gone
tomorrow...take it Dee Dee.."
The
back-story - CBGB does not own their space.
Their rent in downtown NYC is about to jump
astronomically high after their current lease
expires this month. This is a place that should be
"landmarked" or given an affordable lease by the
building owners, which they are not. This aint no
fancy boutique selling $900 garments and $2000 shoes
in trendy NYC? What gives?
This
is a smaller space that might be 3 times the size of
your bedroom, selling $5 beers (warm sometimes) and
bad music most of the time for 31 years. A breeding
ground for bands at best. Not a GOLDMINE. Sometimes
you get lucky and you get a band who gets a little
heat nationally and comes "back" to play there. Some
come for the 1st time, like Greenday, go to play
there to just play "THERE". You get a little "goose"
to your merch sales, which are usually dead for 25
years, and make a little press for the moment. No
huge "5-night 20,000 IN ATTENDANCE...nothing like
that shit happens ever or can happen. If you walk
from the front straight to the stage, 100 feet or so
in front of you, you have experienced the entire
space, fit for 300-500 at best.
The
RAMONES, the TALKING HEADS, PATTI...these are names
of yesteryear, when no (literally) fortunes were
made, just a lotta' cool press, warm beers and
mostly bad music. Gold nuggets "in a mound of dirt".
The Bowery was "unwanted" until a few years ago when
trendy boutiques and NYU needed to spread their
wings further than SOHO and the E.Village where NYU
dorms where predominanlty located. Away from the
bowery bums and homeless, away from the "dark" club
scene (the boggie man) that was left for the lower
income downtrodden NY'ERS or artists. Music artists
and otherwise.
You
get the point. The fact that Hilly allows the music
scene to use his "spot" for 31 years like a gold
miner does, sifting through mounds of dirt to
find a few RARE gold nuggets has been to his credit,
but this is not Donald Trump here, and this aint
even no MUD CLUB...its just CBGB's. Tiny, smelly and
classic for what is represents to rising bands and
fans of punk music everywhere around the world.
Punk
is hot now. It was hot once or twice before too. But
for more time than not, it was not hot.
That's PUNK. Hilly Krystal, the proprietor of CB's
deserves better than this for managing what has
easily become New York City most well known live
music mecca today, bar none.
We're
talking losing CBGB's. Have you ever been? Have you
been lately? Wanna go again and again? Or would you
prefer a $9 cup of coffee and another "specialty
cupcake" shop? $5 for a single cupcake. Yes...a .30
cent frickin' cupcake for $5 and a .50 cent coffee
for $9.
Yipeeee! Are we having fun yet? NO. HELP OUT IF U
CAN - Zippy

WEA
against Fansite "Ramones.de“
Hoping
for your support in any way. Thanks!
With a letter dated April 7,2005 the Warner Music
Group Germany told me to give the Internet domain
“Ramones.de” to them in 2(!) weeks. Otherwise there
will be juridical steps, which will cost me a lot of
money...Their explanation is, they “having the only
right to use the name of the band and their
pictures...”.
Ramones.de is an non-commercial fan site, where for
example a couple of crazy German followers to the
band, who had the luck to meet them personal many
times, write about their... experiences... we did an
official Fanzine in 1994, an authorized Fan-Sampler
in 1999, and Tribute-Concerts and Festivals to
honour them in 1994,1996,1999 and 2004 so far.
This German “Ramones-Thing” is even known under the
name “Loudmouth!”cause we originally named the
Fanzine this way. It all was authorize by the
that-time-members in 1993 and by Dee Dee Ramone (the
originally Bassplayer) in 1994. None of us ever will
forget when Johnny said, “if someone should do it,
these crazy German Followers must do it!”.
In fact, we think, the big media tycoon WEA is
afraid of our Site. But why?Cause the people who
visit us will never buy any
Ramones-Stuff...Bullshit!They will... so we should
be „good“ for the WEA because of our kinda Promotion
for the Band, Promotion by the WEA was missed here
especially in Europe over all the Decades the Band
were active- that’s only as a Side comment! But now
as the Ramones (and that’s a good thing) are having
a kinda “Boom” over here, it explains this
WEA-Reaction. A very late one indeed... the Site was
registered by a fan in 1996, who gave it to us in
2002, not for money, just because to support us.None
of us knows what to do now... fighting against the
Tycoon? That’s a very expensive thing... and because
of the unclear law in Germany, no one knows what
will be the result.
There is a chance, cause we have this relationship
to the Band.
What will be the next step of WEA...
forbidden any Websites having the name “Ramones” in
it... and pics... forbidden any cover bands...
that’s all a BAD WORK AGAINST the Ramones, isn’t
it!? And what about any other band’s fan
sites.....Would please like to know your meaning
about it.
Up the Ramones forever!
A
petition is in the works next!

Marky Ramone News - Marky Ramone won't
be playing with Jerry Only (Misfits) and Dez Cadena
(Misfits/ Black Flag) anymore.
Marky feels he has
to move on and that he won't be on the next European
tour with them. The last shows he will be doing with
Jerry and Dez will be in Mexico. Then he will be
doing mainly Ramones related things and will be
seeing you soon, with his own band.

Rockaway

crafted this eclectic, world-class tribute to the

Ramones long-time engineer, Ed Stasium to master the

Vincent, Sylvain Sylvain w/the She Wolves and The

2.26.05 - New 2-CD Tribute
album.
Todos Somos
Ramones
( 2005 -
Rockaway Records / Argentina
)
Just another
homage? Not this time.
We
heard about this album and were not sure who else found something
to put out with the word "ramones" in the title or subtitle.
Then two things become apparent very fast, number one...Ed
Stasium, longtime Ramones producer mastered the
58 tracks on this 2-cd set, and number two...the music was
all pretty damn good. The album actually has some newer
tribute tracks tracks and assembles the best of the some
previously released tributes after somebody carefully sifted
through the many tribute tracks already out there in the
world.
The tracks are
mostly by punks, for punks and almost all begin with some
verbal snippet of the ramones themselves saying
something cool. I like the music. The songs that were picked
are good songs (was there really a bad one ever made? no.)
and the ramones are featured on a few older tribute tracks.
The amount of songs mean I can leave it on forever and hear
nothing but great Ramones songs and many of them, which in
itself is a good thing. The fact that the 2 cd-s rock are a
huge plus!!!!
Some of the
great bands on this 2-cd set include Sylvain Sylvain and the
She Wolves, Stiv Bator, Collider, The Independents, The
Boys, Airport, Plan 4, Alternative TV, Goin Places, Meat
Depressed and over 20 more great bands. This shit is fun!
The little
book that comes with the set is pretty phenomenal. It
contains some never-before-seen old-school photos of
the
Ramones plus cool short
stories like "My Ramones", written by
Donna Gaines and it even
starts with a message by Tommy Ramone. I love the cover art,
done by Gonzalo Facio. It's a really great cartoon of all 7
ramones zooming along the road! (see mouse-over below and
left). Good music tribute for da'brudda's!

Hail Johnny! |
In Death, He Wants
to Be Celebrated
By Geoff Boucher, Times Staff
Writer
Lions of literature and war heroes get
grand memorials, but rock stars usually get scruffier send-offs — consider the
years of vandalism inflicted on Jim Morrison's grave in Paris or the fact that
Kurt Cobain is celebrated in his hometown by a papier-mache statue in a muffler
shop.
Johnny Ramone wanted better, and on
Friday the underground rock hero got it.

IN HONOR OF OUR FALLEN BRUDDA'...JOHNNY
RAMONE About a thousand fans along with several
of Johnny Ramone's friends — including Rob Zombie, Eddie Vedder
(Pearl Jam), Pete Yorn, John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili

gathered at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Friday, January 14th, to
unveil a four-feet tall bronze statue of the guitarist, who according to Cage's
